Corrigan Supports Pirate Toy Fund Collection
Once again, Corrigan Moving Systems has just finished up our 2016partnership with the Pirate Toy Fund organization. Every December Corrigan and the Pirate Toy Fund, along with WHEC Channel 10, work together to host a major toy drive.
The Pirate Toy Fund is the only nonprofit organization in the country dedicated to donating toys year round to children in need in our community. Located in Rochester NY and founded by local children’s entertainer, Gary The Happy Pirate, the Pirate Toy Fund has collected and distributed 240,000 toys since its inception in 1995.
By far the biggest collection event for the Pirate Toy Fund is the December toy drive. All 15 of the local Rochester Wegman’s stores, as well as the 5 major malls in the area all have toy collection points set up from Thanksgiving to Christmas. Our moving company makes weekly pickups from the Wegmans stores and transports the toys back to our warehouse where we store them until the annual toy sort event.
Once all the collection events have wrapped up, we move on to the Toy Sort event. This event is hosted at our Corrigan warehouse location. Our employees, movers, and family members, along with area volunteers, donate their time to sort toys into 13 different categories of toys, like ‘Boys 5-7’, ‘Dolls’, or ‘Electronics’. After the sort is over Corrigan transports all the sorted toys over to the Pirate Toy Fund’s warehouse location where they are then distributed to children in need throughout the year.
We were also happy to support the First Annual Pirate Toy Fund Giveaway this year. We transported toys to and from the event and our employees helped by handing out toys the kids. Everyone had a great time!
This past year the Pirate Toy fund collected over 18,000 toys! Those toys will bring a lot of smiles to a lot of children this year. It also really speaks to the generosity of the entire Rochester community.
The kids ride wildyouth dirt bikes for beginner riders tend to have low seat heights to make kids feel in control. Such introductory dirt bikes are lightweight and nimble enough to be unintimidating, yet challenging enough that young riders won’t grow out of them before getting their money’s worth……..
